I saw where a lot of people were upset about one particular part of this book, which was an article about sex written by a 14 year old boy who was very obviously a 14 year old boy. I read his article, and quite frankly, yeah, he's over-zealous about wanting to do the deed, however, he's a very informed teenager. If you read past his "why not start sooner rather than later" comment, it's very well written and isn't meant to be taught to your kids until you believe they are of age to learn about such things. He pushes consent, different types of birth control, and responsibility, as well as saying something along the lines of "If her parents aren't cool with premarital sex and/or have differing beliefs, you need to respect their decision and not do it."All in all, this book is amazing. My 8 year old loves the lessons so far. The songs are pretty easy to sight read if you don't have a piano or other instrument. The crafts are adorable. You'll love it.

Absolutely buy this book. We homeschool and I try to include Pagan School lessons throughout the week. It can be difficult to write another lesson plan, but this book has been wonderful. It offers stories, activities, and songs to integrate into your daily practice. My 10-year-old daughter loves it. Regarding the review about the young girl explaining sexuality -it's only 2 pages long and the book in total is 440 pages. I have to admit, that review gave me pause before I purchased it and I simply bought other books instead. But it kept coming up as I researched more about Pagan families. I eventually gave in and I'm very glad I did! Don't let 2 pages and a difference of opinion stop you from buying this great book. It's worth every penny. Now if I could only find the accompanying music CD for a reasonable price!

I really hesitated over this. There are several apparently similar books but this is the one that is mentioned everywhere. I don't have the resources to buy multiple books and I really wanted some direction on this. This book is spectacularly good. It is well written and practical. None of this wish washy, new-age pseudo-spiritual stuff. It is down-to-earth ideas and info for real Pagans who just live this way and are not dabbling in it just because its edgy. There is nothing vague in here and very little fluff. It is basically packed with real information and specifics. I never dreamed I could find anything so good. Some things may not be exactly precise to my path, but it is plenty flexible and non-judgmental, considering how specific it is. I have not been so happy about a book in years. I highly recommend it for solitary or isolated Pagans like us.

This book is great. I bought it used for a better price and it was so nice. Its a very large, long book. Hardcover makes it really nice. It covers almost every topic. All the holidays plus stories, recipes, crafts, ideas to do with older kids and younger. I don't agree with everything in the book but its very open to switch around to fit my needs. It covers the moon phases. Alters for yours and kids. Shadow boxes. Ideas for each phase of life, baby, toddler, preteen, teen, adult, pregnancy (*Trigger* Also covers loss a little). I just skimmed through it and read a few stories so I'm sure I'm missing a lot but so far I really love it.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! My son is 5 and we love the fun and creative diy projects to help celebrate the sabbaths and learn to respect nature. The stories are perfect for his growing imagination. Not to long, not to short and the vocabulary is just right for little ones to understand. I have several Starhawk books and audio books, I didn't know much about the other two authors but I love the collaboration of all three. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Having read several reviews for this book I bought and read it in conjunction with Celebrating the Great Mother: A handbook of Earth-honoring activities for parents and children. I personally found this book to have ideas that can be used for a wider age range than Celebrating the Great Mother. I liked the inclusion of stories from different cultural backgrounds and enjoyed comparing how Starhawk reiterated them to fit a more Goddess centered tradition and the modern Neo-Pagan mindset. I also found the section on the life cycle to be helpful in inducing me to think on rituals in that regard. Finally, I liked that this book focused more on activities that I felt even a skeptical child could participate in. Some of the activities in Celebrating the Great Mother felt a little too "New Age" for me whereas I felt that many here were more "this worldly" and could still be appreciated by children who aren't interested in "magic" as being a family or community "tradition."

This book is everything I could have ever hoped for and more. I've wanted to teach my son about celebrating the seasons and this book is perfect. From the history to the activities and the recipes... the best.

This is a great book. I have had mine a long time and still would not give it up. It has beautiful activities to do with your children or even as adults together. Great for camping as well. It is a goddess based earthing book with a sectional breakdown for activities based on the festival/event/solstices being celebrated. Any part of it can be used at anytime to bring activity and closeness together. It's a very special book to me that I referenced while raising my own child. It will be a book I pass down.
