I purchased these books as a box set, after I had researched reviews on a few of the individual books . Those reviews along with the reviews for the boxed set were all excellent. However, I could not complete any of the first three books and gave up on the rest. How they were rated with favorable reviews is beyond me! The writing is childish with really strange descriptions of everyday situations. On top of that each story had a rediculous plot. There were no romantic situations - just sex , which was written so terribly that I had to skip over it! In addition the actual dialog between characters was disjointed, strange and dare I say “nerdy†. These characters did not speak like normal people would, it’s almost as though the auther is from a different country and is writing in English as her second language. I can not recommend this boxed set.
The book were very similar after reading the first 2 the other s became boring and repetitive. The sec scenes in All the book were the same...all virgins who gave the virginity so easily 3 got pregnant. The names changed but the plot in all the books remain the same
I have previously read all these books individually and loved them, but to give you an idea on what you are in for, I'll put a quick word on each of them:Protector - Who would have thought today would be the day that he found a naked woman in his truck. Well certainly not Xander (Alexander), but she (Robyn) is bringing out his protective streak and he want to take away the fear he sees in her eyes. Robyn has managed to escape her captor, and hide in a truck, she has suffered quite a bit of abuse from him too, and has vowed off men because of this. How long can she resist Xander, and keep her vow though?One Hot Doctor - Years ago they were best friends, or maybe is should have been something more, but they have lost contact until Dr. Scott Wyler happens to attend a lecture by Dr. Edgar Sullivan, and he sees Ava again. Scott doesn't really like Ava's fiance treats her, but when they cross paths again he won't hesitate to save her, just like he use to when they were younger. Can they finally get together? Or will guarded secrets break all chances of that?His Gift - Lance doesn't like Christmas, and he has a rivalry going with Kevin Watts (who is another business owner in the same building as him), but Kevin has invited him to his Christmas work party (not that Lance is likely to go when, he doesn't even want to go to his own work one). I loved the attraction between these two, and how everything plays out.Twist of Fake - Paige has gotten herself in a bind, to gain a chance at getting a big client, she has told them she has a fiancé, the trouble is she doesn't even have a boyfriend and she is a virgin. The mechanic Lucian has had his eye on Paige for a while, can he convince her to let him be her fake fiancé? I enjoyed Paige, even though she seems to be a bit ditzy at times, but I loved Lucian he certainly has lots of secrets, he is protective and he seems to have heaps of heart to him.
When I saw all the outstanding reviews for this bundle I was all in! In retrospect, I realize that so many of the four and five star reviews were basically a plot rehash, not an objective content critique. I just don't understand how so many people thought these books are quality work. I am someone who writes reviews only if, in my humble opinion, a book is really good or perfectly awful. So....How were they awful? Let me count the ways...Unlikeable, under developed characters: Heroines in the first three books were whiney, self-absorbed brats. Just one example: In Book One, the heroine trashes a nursery that the hero gave her (although her baby was not even his) because it was designed by someone who made her jealous. OK, she may not have liked the design, and she certainly could change it, but to throw a temper tantrum, break items that he paid for without so much as a thank-you-for-your-thoughtfulness? BRAT. Also, for some reason, this author seems to have a thing about incorporating smoking into the character persona for most of the heroes in these books. Only once does this habit loosely fit into a plot. (Incident in a smoking lounge.) Huh? Why? Ick.Non-existent plotlines: The same formula across all 5 books - she's pregnant or has had his child and he has to deal with the situation of a pregnancy or kid he didn't know about. I'm great with this idea for one or two books, but five? Stop already.Tiresome sex: Let me clear. I like erotic romance and read it often. I want steam in the romances I read. With that being said, these books are so full of sex scenes that it appears that the author was simply using them to make a word-quota. Further, from one book to another, it was almost a copy-paste scenario. Change the names. Zap in a new setting. Voila! Another 10 pages accounted for.Bottom line: Don't waste your time and certainly not your money on this lot.
