Just returned from my first trip to Great Britain. This guide was quite helpful preparing for the trip and getting me up to speed on the essentials of the UK, lodging options, etc. Most importantly, it helped me decide where to go since I knew little of what there was beyond the stuff everybody knows about in London. I'll be buying the next edition once I'm ready to return!
Planned my entire time in UK with this book and a road atlas. Good coverage of all tourist areas. The only complaint is that I found the regional divisions a little hard to follow when looking for a particular city, but this is not a major complaint.
Was very helpful on my latest trip to England and Scotland in determining which tourist destinations we should go to. The only downside was that the price of admission to many of these places has increased since the book was published so we were a bit unprepared at some points.
Roads on maps are done in a white line which is very hard to follow. I would have liked some specific restaurants and recommended places to stay. I ended up ordering the Lonely Planet guide. I haven't received it yet, so don't know if it will be better. I really liked their Peru and India guides.
This book was very helpful in planning our routes and destinations for our trip to Great Britain.
I used this book to help plan my trip to London and Scotland. There is a lot of good information in the book and I like the way it is set up. Worth it for helping plan your trip!
Swell organized and excellent material.
So much more to UK than London.
